Tanzanian Bongo Flava superstar Harmonize closes his sixth studio album “31” with the title track, bringing in Egyptian megastar Mohamed Ramadan for one of the most ambitious Pan-African collaborations of the year.
The title track sits at position 14 – the final record on the album – and Harmonize uses it to carry the most personal message across the entire project. Turning 31 years old prompted reflection on growth, maturity, changing relationships, and the desire to understand who genuinely supports him as he enters a new life chapter. So the song works both as a personal statement and as a proper closing chapter for an album built around those same themes.
Mohamed Ramadan is not a casual feature pick. The Egyptian actor, singer, and entertainer brings a massive North African and Middle Eastern fanbase into the conversation – opening Harmonize’s music to markets that Bongo Flava rarely penetrates directly. But the collaboration also works musically. The record blends Harmonize’s East African Bongo Flava influence with elements of Arabic pop, trap, and contemporary African sounds – and that fusion feels natural rather than forced.
Their vocal delivery fluctuates between melodic poise and sharp percussive rhythmic assault, with each verse grounding the themes of prosperity and endurance with real authority. Because closing a 14-track album on a collaboration this big requires both artists to show up fully – and both do.
The “31” album also carries one of the most impressive featured artist lineups in East African music this year – Wande Coal, Stonebwoy, Rayvanny, Marioo, Yemi Alade, Darkoo, Mayorkun, Qing Madi, Ya Levis, Sofiya Nzau, and Jay Melody all appear across the project before Mohamed Ramadan brings it home.
