Zimbabwean rapper Holy Ten teams up with MrCandy on “Hunhu Hwako,” a Shona-flavoured single about character flaws in love.

“Hunhu” means character or humanity in Shona, so the title points at someone’s nature, and the song looks at how it shows up in a relationship. ZAtunes describes it as a story about the flaws people bring into love, and it praises the chemistry between the two artists. Holy Ten produced the record himself, and the track runs two minutes and 36 seconds. That short length keeps the message sharp.

The pairing works because the voices fit. Holy Ten, born Mukudzei Chitsama in Harare, broke through with “Hoo Zvangu” in 2020, and he writes with plain, conversational Shona. MrCandy adds a second perspective, so the story feels like a back-and-forth. Samanyanga Sounds released it, and BrendonXG directed the official video.

The numbers show real momentum. ZAtunes reports that the song has climbed Zimbabwe’s charts and is now moving into South African ones, which often happens when a Zimbabwean record crosses the border. TikTok users have also posted lyric clips, so the hook travels through short videos as well as radio. That mix of airplay and social media is how many Zim hip-hop songs spread.

For listeners who like honest relationship talk over a clean Afrobeats feel, this is an easy replay. It also gives non-Shona speakers a way into Zimbabwean hip-hop through a very relatable idea.
