Nigerian Afropop and highlife singer HumbleSmith delivers his most cohesive project in years with “Mr Melody,” a six-track EP dropping today under Show Bobo Music.

The title is both a self-description and a promise. HumbleSmith has always built his reputation around melodic accessibility – the same instinct that made “Osinachi” with Phyno and Davido travel so far in 2015 remains the core of everything he builds in 2026.

But “Mr Melody” feels more deliberately sequenced than anything he has released since that breakthrough era. Each track serves a specific emotional purpose within the project rather than existing as isolated singles wearing the same cover art.

DALORBEATS handles production across most of the project with consistent warmth and quality – and ZegzMix’s mixing and mastering gives the EP a polished finish that holds across all six records. That production consistency is what makes “Mr Melody” feel like a complete listening experience rather than a tracklist of separate studio sessions assembled at the last minute.

The sequencing also earns real credit. “Aso Oke” opens with cultural pride and Yoruba tradition. “Jealousy” shifts into social commentary at track two. “Baby Fire” brings the romance at three. “Pressure” acknowledges the weight of the journey at four. “Bolingo” with Umu Obiligbo then adds the Eastern Nigerian Highlife dimension that deepens the project’s cultural range. And “Moment” closes everything with the kind of reflective energy that earns its position as a final word.
