Khuthuza, a South African singer-songwriter, teams up with award-winning amapiano vocalist Bassie on a new single titled LALELA.

LALELA sits in the amapiano lane and runs just over five minutes, so it has space to build. Khuthuza holds the lead credit, while Bassie comes in as the guest voice.

Bassie comes in with real hardware behind her. Her song Kwelanga 2.0 won three Metro FM Awards, including Best Amapiano Song. Best Collaboration and Best Music Video came with it.

It runs 7:21 and also carries Tman Xpress and LeeMcKrazy. She grew up in Windmill Park, Boksburg, and her first featured single was Qaphela with Dj Sjijo.

Izenzo is another cut worth knowing. It teamed her with Aymos and T-Man SA on a Sony release. Her debut album Umculo followed, mostly amapiano, though R&B and gospel colour parts of it. Most of her records run long, since Izenzo is 6:54 and Ngithande is 7:00.

Teaching is her other job, so music is not her only focus. She told Sowetan she likes having options. Her song Ngikhumbula with Soa Mattrix is about missing a moment, not a person.

Spin LALELA with the volume up and tell us in the comments – did Khuthuza or Bassie leave the bigger mark on you?
