Sandra Naxx pairs up with Champion Ogudo on “Kinyakula,” a fast Kampala street-pop record with a dancehall lean.
Both artists teased it first. Studio snippets and short video clips circulated on social media. So young Ugandan fans were already talking about it before the official audio and visualizer landed.
Sandra Naxx is a dancehall voice and a professional dancer. Movement sits at the centre of what she does. Her vocals carry the melody here. Champion Ogudo then answers with rapid-fire Luganda. His verses push the tempo forward. That back-and-forth gives the record its drive.
Billton and GZ Beats share the production and mastering work. The result sounds polished but still raw at the edges. The record runs just over two minutes. That keeps it tight and easy to loop.
Listings describe the sound as Afrobeats-style rhythm mixed with Kampala’s Fangone energy. Playful street slang and an unbothered attitude also run through it.
Sandra Naxx has been active this year. She teamed up with Alien Skin on “Kapati” and “Nepanka.” Songs like “Ntoli,” “Teli Kwekwasa,” and “Pick And Play” with Mudra D Viral came before.
Short, loud, and built for dance clips, “Kinyakula” suits TikTok well.
