Maqhinga Hadebe brings KaMaphanga into “i1000,” a four-minute Maskandi track at the heart of his album “Woza 2030.”

The song is track five of 13, and it runs four minutes and one second. That makes it one of the longer early cuts. “Ukusmile” opens the album at just 2:16, and “Woza 2030” with Nzuzo wezihlabani follows at 3:37, so “i1000” stretches out where the album settles in. “Imali Yokuza” sits just before it, and “iType Yami” with Menzi Music comes next. That sequence gives the middle of the project a steady pulse of guests and solo moments.

KaMaphanga adds a second Maskandi voice. He has appeared this year on Mahostela 97’s “Yimi umaqondana” and on Mjabulisi’s “Sengithathiwe,” so fans know his vocals well. Early write-ups say little about the lyrics, so the best way to judge the song is through the interplay of guitar and voices. Maskandi leans on that exchange, and a feature can turn one singer’s story into a shared one.

“Woza 2030” itself points to a future-facing project. The title suggests a call to come along toward the year 2030, and the numbered title “i1000” fits that playful, modern naming style. Maqhinga Hadebe mixes Zulu words and English-style digits, which keeps the music close to how young listeners talk.

For Maskandi fans who want longer tracks with room to breathe, this one is a good place to start on the album.
