South African maskandi musician Mbekezeli 1010 is back with “Uhleka Azaqethuke uLwah,” a single that combines traditional rhythms with modern textures.
The track arrived on October 15, 2026, so it adds another entry to his growing catalogue without forcing a drastic shift in direction.
The title carries a warning wrapped in a laugh, which fits the Maskandi tradition of using storytelling to deliver a message. Mbekezeli 1010 leans into that approach here. He does not rush the arrangement. Instead, the instrumentation settles in and lets the vocal delivery carry the weight. The blend of soulful melodies and traditional Maskandi elements gives the record a familiar foundation, but the production keeps it from sounding like a museum piece .
What makes this release worth checking is how it fits his lane. Mbekezeli 1010 has built his name on that specific balance of heritage and modern appeal, and “Uhleka Azaqethuke uLwah” continues that work. He keeps the storytelling central, so listeners who follow Maskandi closely will find plenty to connect with here.
If you enjoy Maskandi that respects the roots while still moving forward, this one deserves a spin. Let us know in the comments how “Uhleka Azaqethuke uLwah” sits with you and whether it earns a spot in your rotation.
