Jaiva Zimnike and UMnotho join Mjolisi for “Impilo Ayilungi,” and the ease from “Ngaze Ngak’thanda” doesn’t last long.
Mjolisi – Impilo Ayilungi says life isn’t right, and after finally naming love plainly, Mjolisi turns back to something heavier here. UMnotho’s return links this one straight back to “Liyoma Ngami,” where doubt first opened this whole run up.
Bass drops low again, heavier than the last two tracks allowed. Log drum pulls back too, percussion leaving those same wide gaps that carried the earlier, harder records.
Mjolisi’s tone goes rougher here, the softness from “Ngaze Ngak’thanda” gone almost completely. Jaiva Zimnike brings a raw edge of his own, while UMnotho grounds it the way he did before, no answers offered this time either.
Five records deep, and life clearly isn’t done testing him yet. The love from last time doesn’t erase what this one’s carrying.
Sit with “Impilo Ayilungi” when things still don’t add up, no matter what came before.
