Zim-linked act Release teams up with Tocky Vibes and Mugaratia on a street-flavoured new record titled “4MABABE.” Zimdancehall meets hip hop on the same beat.
Tocky Vibes, born Obey Makamure, is the Zimdancehall star behind “Mhai” and “Toti Toti.” Mugaratia brings a hip hop edge, and his “Pemurai Dzose” album shows his range. A fast hi-hat pattern runs across the top, so the tempo stays tense.
Release opens with a hard, direct delivery. The voice sounds hungry, and the bars come quickly.
Tocky Vibes enters with his easy, singing flow, and Mugaratia answers with tighter rap lines. The lyrics seem to deal with hustle, pride and loyalty to the hood. Shona phrases add extra flavour.
The three voices play different roles, so the record never gets stale. Nobody fights for space, and the energy stays high.
