Ruger crosses continents on “Do Nothing,” linking up with South Africa’s Musa Keys and Young Stunna for one of the “Raw & Unfiltered (Vol. 1)” EP’s most vibrant moments.
The pairing makes immediate sonic sense. Musa Keys operates at the intersection of Afrobeats and Amapiano with a production instinct that travels naturally. Young Stunna adds the raw Amapiano vocal energy that made him one of the genre’s most in-demand voices. So when Ruger brings both into his dancehall-influenced Afrobeats world, the collision works because nobody has to compromise their identity to fit the song.
“Do Nothing” also arrives as the most commercially ambitious moment on the EP. While “Loved at Home” goes inward and “PRIVATE CHEF” stays in Lagos, this record opens a door toward the South African streaming audience – one of the fastest growing Afrobeats markets globally. Ruger has always understood the business behind the music. But this collaboration feels less strategic and more genuinely excited. The energy between the three artists sounds like they actually enjoyed making it.
The Blown Boy Entertainment imprint also signals something specific here. Since leaving Jonzing World and operating independently, every feature Ruger takes on carries full creative ownership. So “Do Nothing” with Musa Keys and Young Stunna is a choice made entirely on his own terms. That freedom shows in how relaxed the record sounds despite carrying serious crossover potential.
Young Stunna’s verse alone will push this toward South African playlists that might have ignored Ruger’s previous solo output. But the hook is sticky enough to hold both fan bases once they get there.
