South African rapper SKIIPS drops a remix of “Secret Is Out,” bringing in Blxckie and Emtee this time around. SKIIPS is signed to Emtee Records, so this pairing makes sense on more than one level, this isn’t just a random feature.
That Emtee Records connection is probably the whole reason this remix exists. SKIIPS has been building steadily under that camp, and pulling in both Blxckie and Emtee for a remix says the label’s putting some real weight behind pushing this one further.
Production likely holds close to the original, since remixes in this lane usually keep the beat and just widen the pool of voices. Expect tight drums, a punchy low end, that standard SA hip-hop drive that gives everyone room to go bar for bar.
SKIIPS probably opens with the same verse that made people want a remix in the first place. Whatever “secret” the title’s referencing, it clearly landed the first time around to justify bringing in two heavyweight features.
Blxckie slots in with his usual sharp, melodic flow, he’s someone who can rap or sing his way through a verse depending on the mood, so expect some flexibility there. Emtee, meanwhile, brings that veteran presence, the kind of feature that instantly raises the profile of a track just by association.
Put together, “Secret Is Out (Remix)” reads like a strategic co-sign more than a creative reinvention, SKIIPS getting cosigned by two of SA hip-hop’s bigger names on his own camp’s dime.
