Stella Lefty’s debut single “Boston” keeps making country history, topping Country Airplay for a second straight week.
That run matters. Billboard notes she is the first solo-billed woman with a debut single to lead the chart for multiple weeks since Gretchen Wilson. Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” did it for five weeks in 2004. So the wait lasted twenty-two years.
The climb started small. “Boston” entered the Hot 100 at number 95 and kept rising. It later peaked at number two. Atlantic Outpost released it, and it leads her debut album “Long Way Home.”
The story behind it helped. Lefty wrote it after starting a relationship with country singer Vincent Mason. She posted an unfinished chorus on TikTok before recording the full version. Fans reacted fast.
Then came the comparisons. Many heard echoes of Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.” Lefty says she did not model the song on it. Still, her team agreed to give Kahan a songwriting credit. Grace Enger, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, and Joe Reeves share writing credits too.
Lefty has also earned VMA nominations for Best New Artist and Best Country. A tour is planned for 2027. So “Boston” is far from finished.
