Tate McRae launches her next era with “Housewife,” a playful pop lead single about a woman who cannot be contained.
The song is the first taste of her fourth studio album, and it arrives after a quiet stretch. Her last release was “Nobody’s Girl” in November 2025. Her third album “So Close to What” was released in February 2025 with hits like “Sports Car”, “It’s OK I’m OK”, “2 Hands” and “Revolving Door”. Fans knew a new chapter was coming. McRae even teased the title as an Easter egg on the screens at Lollapalooza and Osheaga, and she joked that fans missed the most obvious clue.
The idea plays with a stereotype. The single cover shows her in a red bikini beside a stroller full of cash, and the aesthetic nods to the housewife, trophy wife, and tradwife images. McRae says the song is about a woman who cannot be contained, so the title works as a wink. She turns the label into a joke about money and independence, not about staying home. Julia Michaels and Ryan Tedder helped write it, and both have worked with her before.
The video adds the glamour. Filmed in the South of France, it shows McRae poolside and on a yacht with a love interest, and the look is sunny and expensive. It also helps explain why the song feels like a big return, not a small drop.
For fans who love her sharp pop hooks and dance-heavy visuals, this is a confident start.
Pour yourself something cold and play “Housewife,” then tell us – what would your “housewife crime” be?
