Nigerian street-pop veteran Terry G brings back his high-octane Akpako sound on “Akpako Bum Bum,” an energetic Afrobeats single.
Fans know him as the “Akpako Master,” and this record leans straight into that title. Terry G wrote it himself, and he keeps the delivery fast and lively. The song runs just over three minutes, so it hits hard and never drags.
His Ginjah style helped shape Nigerian street music in the early 2010s. That history matters here, because the raw, playful energy that made him a name is still intact. So longtime fans get the sound they remember, while newer listeners get a proper introduction.
The record also works as a reminder of how much street-pop owes him. Many of today’s artists chase the same wild, unfiltered feel, but Terry G has been doing it for years. Because of that, “Akpako Bum Bum” sounds confident instead of nostalgic.
For anyone who wants a party record with no filter, this one delivers.
