Amapiano singer Tman Xpress joins Pretoria duo Mellow & Sleazy on a moody record titled “Remember.” It comes from their joint album, “Midnight In Diepkloof Zone 2.”
Mellow & Sleazy produce with Ngcebo Lwazi, and the record runs just over seven minutes. Log drums and layered percussion build slowly, while atmospheric synths float above. The bass is heavy, yet the mood stays warm.
Tman Xpress sings in vernacular, and his tone feels inward and honest. He also wrote the song, so the feeling comes from his own pen. Because the pace is slow, he has time to stretch each line.
The song talks about memories and the pull of the past. He admits his feelings openly, so the memory theme feels personal. Behind him, Mellow & Sleazy keep the groove steady.
This one works because the long format suits the theme. Even though it runs over seven minutes, the groove never loses its grip.
