South African singer and songwriter Zee Nxumalo joins forces with Funky Qla and Gqom and Amapiano heavyweight Dlala Thukzin on a powerful single titled “Ngithathiwe,” the closing track on her Izinja Zam: Vol. I EP released under KwaNxumalo and Platoon.

The title “Ngithathiwe” means I have been taken – and that emotional surrender is threaded through every second of the record. It speaks to that feeling of love so strong it completely shifts your world. Zee Nxumalo has always operated in that emotional lane, and this record is one of the more honest expressions of it.

What makes “Ngithathiwe” interesting as a closing track is the weight it carries. The Izinja Zam: Vol. Saving this collab with Dlala Thukzin for last was the right call because the record carries that finishing energy.

Funky Qla handled production duties alongside KwaNxumalo, and the result sits in that Amapiano and Gqom crossover space that Dlala Thukzin has always understood better than most. His contribution adds a driving urgency to the song that gives Zee Nxumalo’s vocals something powerful to move against.

Ngithathiwe” feels like a moment that shows exactly why those names keep calling on her. Stream it and then run the full Izinja Zam: Vol. I EP from the top.
