Nigerian producer and singer Pheelz links up with Rii on a dark and hypnotic new record titled “DIRTY DIANA RIDDIM” off the “A Rii Set” EP.
The title alone signals a different kind of energy. So when the beat drops the song delivers exactly the mood you were expecting – and then some. Pheelz steps into a darker sonic territory here that adds a completely new dimension to the EP.
The production is brooding and atmospheric. Pheelz builds the riddim with layers that feel heavy and intentional. The bass sits deep in the mix while the melody creeps above it with a seductive quality that makes the record impossible to ignore.
Rii handles the darker material with surprising ease. Her vocal performance on “DIRTY DIANA RIDDIM” is more restrained than usual but that restraint actually works in the song’s favour. She lets the production breathe around her voice and the result feels genuinely compelling.
Although the record leans into a moodier direction it still fits naturally within the “A Rii Set” EP. Pheelz shows here that he can move between different emotional spaces without losing the listener along the way. That range is one of the things that makes this project more interesting than a standard EP release.
The Michael Jackson reference in the title also adds a cultural layer that music lovers will appreciate. Pheelz nods to a classic while still building something that sounds entirely his own.
