Mr Eazi, Dre Skull, and Vybz Kartel drop “Lambo” today, and the announcement that comes with it makes the song even bigger than it sounds on its own.

This single kicks off the rollout for “Yard & Yanga,” a joint dancehall-inspired mixtape from Mr Eazi and Dre Skull coming later this year on Mixpak Records and emPawa Africa. Years in the making, the project grew out of a genuine friendship between two people who kept ending up in studios together and eventually realised they were building something larger than just loose sessions.

Mr Eazi put it plainly himself: in another life, he would have been a dancehall artist. “Lambo” is him leaning into that side without apology. Vybz Kartel shows up with his signature vocal energy, and Dre Skull, who produced Kartel’s “Kingston Story” and Popcaan’s biggest albums, builds a hypnotic bashment foundation underneath them both. The chemistry between Kartel and Dre Skull goes back to 2009, so this isn’t a random pairing dressed up as a collab. It’s a real reunion.

The title references Jamaica in patois and Nigerian Pidgin’s word for showing off. That double meaning captures exactly what “Yard & Yanga” is trying to say about the bridge between West Africa and the Caribbean.
