South African vocalist Mbalenhle Mavimbela links up with FunkTone, Espee Music, Luvintage and Msizi Da Vocalist on a soulful new Amapiano record titled “Thetha Nawe,” off her “Ngokwami” EP.

“Thetha Nawe” translates to “talk to you” in Zulu, and that simple phrase carries the whole emotional weight of the song. After the celebratory energy of “Vulindlela,” this one pulls back toward something more intimate and conversational. That shift keeps the “Ngokwami” EP feeling unpredictable rather than formulaic.

FunkTone and Espee Music share production duties here. Building an instrumental that stays warm and melodic without losing its Amapiano foundation. The groove moves at a pace that suits conversation more than dancing, unhurried and open. The vocals sit right at the center of Mbalenhle Mavimbela – Thetha Nawe rather than competing with the production.

Mbalenhle Mavimbela’s delivery carries a genuine longing throughout, like someone working up the nerve to say something important to another person. Her phrasing stays honest and direct, which is exactly what the title demands. That authenticity has been the thread connecting every track on this EP.
