Gugulethu’s finest, K.Keed and Orish, return three years after their original collaborative effort with “uMgaranto II” – a sequel that arrives more cinematic, more intentional, and more emotionally layered than its predecessor.

The original “uMgaranto” earned its reputation through unfiltered isiXhosa storytelling and tracks like “Amaxabiso,” “Ngangelizwe,” and “Goduka.” So the pressure going into a second instalment was real. But both artists describe this project as shaped entirely by lived experience – not forced concept, not studio theory. The music came naturally because the stories were already there waiting to be told.

What separates “uMgaranto II” from a standard sequel is how deliberately it was built. K.Keed admitted she had to unlearn freestyling without direction and instead structure each song properly – chorus, verse, phrasing – treating the craft as a process rather than just a vibe. Orish had to learn to let go creatively.

The rollout also showed patience. “Abenam” crossed 100,000 YouTube views before “Tuku Tuku” followed. Both singles built real anticipation rather than burning attention too early. So by the time the album arrived, the audience was already primed and listening parties in both Cape Town and Johannesburg sold out – with the Parktown crowd reportedly going completely wild.

For South African hip-hop fans who follow the Cape Town creative scene, this project sits at the top of 2026’s most authentic releases so far.
