Cape Town rap act K.Keed links up with creative partner Orish on a sharp new record titled “Intro,” off their joint Umgaranto 2 project.
K.Keed and Orish have been building something real together since the first Umgaranto dropped in 2023. That project was rooted in Gugulethu culture, old SABC memories. Umgaranto 2 picks up that same thread, and “Intro” is where the sequel announces itself.
The production carries that distinctly Western Cape flavour. K.Keed has always moved differently from the rest of South Africa’s rap scene. And Orish as a creative collaborator clearly understands that assignment inside out.
K.Keed’s delivery on “Intro” is exactly what you’d expect from someone who described herself as currently feeling like “the chosen one.” There’s a quiet certainty in how she spits. Just someone who’s figured out who they are on the mic and stopped second-guessing it. That assurance gives the record its weight.
Orish complements the energy without stepping on it, which is exactly the dynamic these two have built across their collaborative work.
Starting a project with a track called “Intro” is a statement in itself – K.Keed isn’t easing in gently.
