South African Maskandi artist Khuthuza teams up with Afro-pop duo Qwabe Twins on the culturally rich collaboration “Ubuhle Bendalo,” released through DASK Records.
The title translates to “the beauty of nature” in Zulu – and the record delivers exactly that feeling across its nearly four-minute runtime. Khuthuza brings the traditional Maskandi guitar work and expressive Zulu vocal delivery he has built his catalogue around. But pairing him with Virginia and Viggy of the Qwabe Twins introduces an Afro-pop dimension that gives the record much wider reach than a standard Maskandi release would carry.
