Zimbabwean Zimdancehall star Nutty O opens his new fifteen-track album “Different Root” with “Too Much,” a collaboration featuring Nigerian singer-songwriter Fido.

Real name Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa, Nutty O grew up in Mbare, Harare, where he first fell in love with reggae through his father’s UB40 records. He broke into the wider African music conversation with “Kwandabva Kure,” becoming the first Zimbabwean act featured on DJ Edu’s Destination Africa show on BBC Radio 1Xtra. His 2021 debut album “Mustard Seed” pulled in over two million streams and earned him three ZIMA awards, so this new remix arrives from an artist who already has receipts.

Placing “Too Much” as the opening track on “Different Root” says something too. It sets the tone for a fifteen-song project built to show off Nutty O’s range across dancehall, reggae and Afrobeats.
