Ghanaian Afro-fusion act Essumann returns with “Flight,” an uplifting new record that lands on September 26, 2026.
The song arrives after a stretch of more meditative releases, so this one flips the mood entirely. He trades introspection for elevation here.
The production builds an airy mid-tempo backdrop with bright electric guitar riffs and shimmering synth pads. Snappy percussion shakers and a driving Afro-fusion drum kick keep the bounce moving without cluttering the mix . That clean arrangement gives Essumann room to stretch his textured register, and he does not waste the space.
Lyrically, “Flight” centers on ascension and leaving heavy baggage behind. He sings about keeping his focus on the sky, ignoring detractors, and sharing the rewards with day-one friends . The chorus lands as a sing-along moment, so the motivational message never feels heavy-handed. It works for morning commutes and weekend turn-ups alike.
What makes this release worth tracking is how it fits his catalogue. Essumann has leaned into vocal honesty on past records, but “Flight” pushes him into a more energetic lane without losing that core . The result feels like a natural step rather than a forced pivot.
