Zambian star T-Sean confronts the disbelief of loss on “Mutima Wakana,” the second track on his tribute EP.

The title says it in Bemba: “Mutima Wakana” means “The Heart Refuses,” or “The Heart Denies.” That is the whole song in a few words. T-Sean cannot accept that his wife, Sharai, is gone, and the record does not pretend otherwise.

He built it from notes he wrote in the early days of his grief. Late at night, he put his thoughts down as they came, and those pages became the base for the music. So the confusion, pain, and disbelief you hear are not staged. They come straight from the moment he lived.

Placed right after the EP’s opening title track, “Mutima Wakana” continues the intimate direction that “Woke Up Missing You” sets from the start. Afropop and Dancehall shape the sound, but the feeling comes first here.

There is no rush to heal in this song. It stays inside the denial, because that is where grief often begins. Anyone who has lost someone close will recognise that feeling.

For Zambian fans who know T-Sean for his party records, this one asks for a quiet room and full attention.

Stream “Mutima Wakana” and drop a kind word for T-Sean in the comments.
