Zambian music star T-Sean turns grief into song on “Tears Tequila Shots,” the third track on his tribute EP.
The record comes from real loss. T-Sean made “Woke Up Missing You” in memory of his late wife, Sharai, and this song sits right in the middle of it. So it carries a weight that a normal studio single would not.
The title paints the picture before the music starts. Tears and tequila shots point to the ways people reach for anything that might dull a pain they cannot process. T-Sean does not dress that up. He lets the imagery do the talking.
The sound shifts too. He steps away from the loud, energetic side of his earlier releases and settles into a slower, more restrained Dancehall and Afropop groove. His delivery stays vulnerable, but sharper vocal moments break through now and then, and those moments mirror how grief rises and falls without warning.
Coming right after “Mutima Wakana,” the song deepens the EP’s intimate direction. Together they set the personal tone of the whole project.
For fans who followed T-Sean through his upbeat years, this is a different side, and it deserves a careful listen.
