Indigenous rapper Kolaboy pairs with DMW songstress Morravey on “Letter To My Ex,” track 11 of “Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life.”

The title tells you the setting. A letter is personal and slow, and it usually says what a phone call cannot. Kolaboy uses that idea to step away from the heavier street and cultural stories elsewhere on the album. So the song feels more private.

Morravey changes the sound. Kolaboy raps in his indigenous style, and she answers with a contemporary Nigerian vocal approach. That meeting creates a different dynamic from most records on the project. His verses bring the Igbo grit, while her voice adds warmth and melody. Neither one tries to copy the other.

The song also sits well in the tracklist. It follows “Okpoko,” his solo cut, and it leads into “Oga Eme” with Evado. That placement puts it in the closing stretch of the 13-track album, where the mood shifts toward emotion and reflection.

The album blends Afro-drill, indigenous rap, and highlife influences. “Letter To My Ex” keeps that Eastern Nigerian storytelling intact while leaving room for romance. It shows Kolaboy can write about heartbreak without leaving his roots behind.

If you want a softer side of indigenous rap, this one is worth a play.
