Kolaboy goes solo on “Okpoko,” a place-named track that carries his Eastern Nigerian roots into the album’s closing stretch.

Okpoko is a place, and the title gives the song a strong sense of location before it even starts. Kolaboy often leans on local names and cultural references, so this fits his style. He keeps it plain and lets the setting do the work.

The track sits tenth on “Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life.” It follows “N’aka Mmadu,” which featured Aguero Banks and Hugo P, and it comes before “Letter To My Ex.” After two collaborations, this solo cut puts the focus back on him. There is nobody else to share the weight, so his indigenous rap style carries the whole record.

His background explains the tone. Kolaboy started performing at social gatherings while he was still in secondary school. Later he recorded independently in Onitsha, which shaped his storytelling. His “Kola from the East” project pushed the same direction. So “Okpoko” feels grounded in everyday experience, not in a made-up character.

He delivers it in Igbo, with his usual rap cadence. That choice keeps the song close to the streets and the people he talks about.

For fans of Eastern Nigerian rap who like a record with a sense of place, this one is worth a play.
