Luo singer Javan MacAjudo delivers “Ng’etna,” an unhurried Luo Rhumba love song that runs over eight minutes.
He wrote, arranged, and produced the record himself. It carries the Mellow Music Empire name, the label he founded. So the whole creative chain stays in one pair of hands.
The sound follows the Rhumba tradition. Smooth bass lines set the pace. Guitar rhythms ride on top, and layered brass fills the space. Nothing rushes. The song is sung in Luo, and it speaks about devotion and closeness between two people. That makes it a natural pick for couples.
It is also climbing in Kenya. The official audio has appeared on Kenya’s trending music video lists. For a long Luo-language love song, that is a good sign.
MacAjudo has been busy this year. Ep. released as Nyar Ahero Nyando “Kong’o Mbas Piny,” “Chichi Bella,” “Nyathini Ochwena,” and “Awayo Ojogo Lak” followed as singles. He is based in Kisumu and also works as a sound engineer, so he handles much of his own craft.
Songs this long ask for patience. The reward is a relaxed mood that fits slow evenings.
