South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat links with P Dogg Amazing on Obishini, track nine of his iTheku eThekwini album.
Obishini lands ninth on an 11-track project, right after Top 5 Milano. Next up is eMtateni interlume, with Enocs Mae and Keyy Wavv. Shazam credits Okmalumkoolkat and P Dogg Amazing together, so it reads like a shared record.
Okmalumkoolkat has called his own music a potjiekos of styles. He later gave those styles names, among them Gqomwave and Digital Maskandi. Fans also know him for 100K MaCassette, a mixtape he released after reaching 100,000 Facebook followers. He also runs with the collective Boyz n Bucks.
The album title nods to Durban, the city Okmalumkoolkat grew up in. It opens with eThekwini Intro, and Bukhoma with Lowfeye and MusiholiQ comes second. Dusse Wavy and Nhlanhlaleyo also appear among the guests, so P Dogg Amazing joins a busy credit list. The album ends with an outro featuring Cid Rim, so Obishini falls two tracks from the finish.
He has said Okmalumkoolkat is an idea, one meant to outlive the man behind the name. Designing is another job, with layouts made for clothing brands such as Nike.
