Afrobeats singer Skelvin from Edo pairs with Arok Hill on Obrigado, a love song produced by Young G Mozes.
Obrigado is the Portuguese word for thank you, which fits a song built around romantic affection. The mood is playful and romantic, and the groove is built for dancing. Arok Hill is the guest, and write-ups describe him as a fast-rising name in Nigerian music.
Young G Mozes produced this one, and he also handled Ghost, Skelvin’s earlier record with the singer Yan Yan. Things of the World, with John jazzii, lists Young G Mozes among the credits too. Skelvin also has Cana with Erigga, and a recent album called The Revelation.
Salami Kasimu Kelvin is the name behind Skelvin. He hails from Edo, though his Audiomack page puts him in Benin City. Still, that page shows more than 34 million plays and Afrosounds as his genre. Only Hope with Corizo and Galilee sit near the top of his Audiomack list.
Two DJs, Regent and Browntic, have each put out a Best of Skelvin mix. That profile also lists Drg record as his label.
Bump Obrigado for someone you want to thank and tell us in the comments who it is going to.
