Malawian dancehall artist ProVoice returns with “Mantha,” a new release that adds another song to his growing music catalogue.

ProVoice, whose real name is Lameck Mwenebanda, has been part of Malawi’s urban music scene for years. He first developed an interest in music while attending secondary school and began recording professionally in 2011. Since then, he has built a name through reggae, dancehall and Afro-dancehall releases.

The title “Mantha” means “Fear” in Chichewa. It is a familiar word in everyday Malawian conversations, making it an interesting choice for a song title. However, the specific story and message behind this recording are not clearly established, so the focus remains on the release itself.

ProVoice has previously delivered songs such as “PokoPoko,” featuring Gwamba, and “Konda Ine,” featuring Nepman and DNA. His 2018 album Knock-It-1966 also helped introduce more listeners to his music. The 15-track project carried different themes around love and motivation.

In 2025, he released Lameck, a personal album inspired by experiences involving grief, healing and personal growth. The project featured collaborations with Eli Njuchi, Malinga Mafia and Mfumu Hyphen. It also reflected a more personal side of the artist beyond his dancehall identity.

With “Mantha,” ProVoice adds another release to his catalogue as he continues working within Malawi’s music scene. Fans who have followed his journey from his earlier dancehall recordings will have another song to check out.
