Zambian singer Frank Ro returns with “Competition,” a romantic Afro-pop record about choosing someone and refusing to let outside opinions affect the relationship.
The song is built around a simple message. Frank Ro believes the woman he loves is special, and he doesn’t see anyone else as a rival. Even when people around them have something to say, he remains focused on what they share.
What makes the song interesting is how Frank Ro approaches the subject. He isn’t singing about trying to win someone’s attention. Instead, he sounds like a man who has already made his choice and has no interest in comparing his partner with anybody else.
The production comes from The BeatBanger, with Zikhale Jack contributing guitar to the recording. The guitar adds a warm touch to the instrumental, giving Frank Ro room to deliver the romantic message without crowding the vocals.
Frank Ro has been steadily building his name in Zambia’s music industry. His journey started with church music, where he developed his musical skills as a drummer before moving into singing and songwriting. He later gained wider attention through “Reason,” featuring Macky 2, and has continued releasing music across Afro-pop and Afro-fusion.
“Competition” also follows his recent releases, including “Ku’Bongo” and “Dear Mutima” featuring Kell Kay. However, this latest song takes a more reassuring approach to love, focusing on loyalty rather than heartbreak.
Listen to “Competition” by Frank Ro and tell us whether you agree that real love should never feel like a contest.
