Dre Ice drops his debut EP “Trenches Therapist,” and for a first project, it says a lot about where he’s headed.
Six tracks, one feature, and a clear direction throughout. That kind of focus is rare for a debut, and it works in his favour. Dre Ice uses the project as a personal outlet, drawing from real experiences rather than chasing a sound someone told him would work.
The EP opens strong with “Motion Boy,” which sets a hungry, ambitious tone from the jump. “Gun & Love” follows and pulls the project into more complex emotional territory early. “Free Fighter” with Evado is the only collab on the entire project, and Evado shows up with something worth hearing rather than just filling a slot. “Higher” keeps the motivational energy alive in the middle, while “Anyafulugo” adds cultural texture that gives the EP a different dimension. “Echi” closes everything out, a record that many listeners already knew before the project dropped, which makes it a fitting way to bring things full circle.
Signed to Iyoo Cartel, Dre Ice has been building quietly, and “Trenches Therapist” feels like a proper introduction to what he actually stands for as an artist. Stream “Trenches Therapist” now and start from track one.
