Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Ibraah delivers “1B: The Other Side of the Face,” a 50-track album with East African guests.
The size is the first thing to know. Fifty songs make it far bigger than an EP, even though some pages still list it as one. Ibraah, born Abdallah Nampunga, uses the space to show different sides of his artistry. Write-ups point to relationships, personal experience, and street life, and they treat the title as a promise of a less polished view of the singer. OneRPM handled the digital distribution, and every track carries an explicit tag.
The guest list shows how wide his network runs. Yammi joins on “Naumwa,” Phina on “Leo,” D Voice on “Nimeacha,” and Kenya’s King Kaka on the 4:39 “Ananipenda.” Billnass, Dully Sykes, and Young Lunya also appear, and Paato shares “Jiongeze.” So listeners get duets, rap cuts, and group songs in one place. Most of the other tracks are solo, including “Usela” which opens the project, plus “Tumeachana,” “Nitunzie,” “Mazoea,” and “Moyo” among the first five.
Titles run from romantic (“Raha,” “Ananipenda”) to street talk (“Story Za Bongo,” “Uswahilini,” “Wazungu”) and sharper moods (“Hasira,” “Stress,” “Mabomu”). Most songs stay short, with “Bunda” at 2:21 and “After Party” at 2:43, so a single listen moves quickly. That variety is the point. The album works like a library, with something for each mood.
For Bongo Flava fans who like to explore, it offers hours of material. Start with the duets, then follow the titles that catch your eye.
