South African Afro House producer KingTouch presents “Nostalgic Archive: 1,” an eight-track project that reworks familiar cuts from his own catalogue. Rather than chasing new material, he reaches back into older records and rebuilds them through a more refined, contemporary lens.
KingTouch has always leaned toward deliberate, personal projects, and this one feels especially so. Instead of scattering random singles, he sequences the album with intent, opening on “Come On Y’all” and closing on “Big 5ive,” both stretching to eight minutes each. That symmetry between the first and last tracks signals a project built with real structure in mind.
Production throughout leans on deep basslines, soulful piano chords, groovy percussion, and atmospheric synth layers that stay warm without overcrowding the mix. Each record takes its time, since KingTouch rarely forces a groove before it feels ready. That patience runs consistently across all eight tracks, giving the project a unified pace.
With only one guest appearance from Que Da Floor and Tee-R on “Bazozwa Ngomlilo,” the album stays mostly a solo statement. The project rewards a full, uninterrupted listen more than individual streams.
