South African Maskandi artist Maqhinga Hadebe delivers “Woza 2030,” a 13-track, 44-minute storytelling album with five guest voices.

The title means “come 2030,” and the project looks ahead while it stays close to home. Maqhinga Hadebe draws on Maskandi’s storytelling tradition, with expressive vocals, traditional sounds, and lyrics shaped by everyday life. Most songs run between three and four minutes. “Ukusmile” opens the set at 2:16, and “Bathathu” stretches longest at 4:22. That short, steady pacing makes the album easy to play from start to finish.

Guests arrive in clusters. Limit Nala joins early on “Khethile Khethile,” Nzuzo wezihlabani adds his voice to the title track, and KaMaphanga appears on “i1000.” Menzi Music sings on “iType Yami,” and Zenzele returns late on “Uyakuthanda.” The solo songs fill the gaps, from “Imali Yokuza” and “Igama Alipheli” to “Amawele,” “Tshelani iEx,” and “Inkomo.” So the album keeps shifting between shared and personal moments. “eChina” closes the story at 3:52.

Many of these songs reached listeners as singles in the same week, so fans could explore the whole project one track at a time. Titles like “Imali Yokuza,” “Igama Alipheli,” and “Uyakuthanda” point to money, name, and love, the everyday topics Maskandi has always covered. That consistency gives the album a clear identity, even with so many guests.

For Maskandi fans who like a full project they can play in one sitting, this one fits.
