Masterpiece YVK – The Italian Job (Album)

Masterpiece YVK has assembled an interesting group of South African artists for his new album, The Italian Job.

The 14-track project brings together names from Amapiano, hip-hop and other corners of the country’s music scene.

One thing you will notice when looking through the tracklist is the number of unexpected collaborations. Maglera Doe Boy, 25K, Zoocci Coke Dope and UJ Choir open the album on “The Gospel According to Matariana.” It is quite a combination, especially with a choir appearing alongside some of South Africa’s rap names.

There is also “Mi Amor,” featuring J’Something and Ceeka RSA. This is the focus track, and J’Something brings a different vocal flavour to the production. Focalistic, Mellow & Sleazy, Optimist Music ZA and Fake’well also come together on “Sang Sokodisa.”

Fans of Kamo Mphela will find her on “Ozizi,” alongside DBN Gogo and DJ Exit. Young Stunna and Tyler ICU appear on “Gama Lam,” while Musa Keys joins CowBoii on “Amantombazane.”

The title track comes at number 10. Masterpiece YVK teams up with Bob Mabena, Moonchild Sanelly, Bontle Smith, Buddy Kay and Tyrone Dee for the recording. Other guests across the album include Scotts Maphuma, Benzoo, EeQue and Uncool MC.

Masterpiece YVK, whose real name is Thabang Kganakga, started out as a community MC before developing his career as a producer and recording artist. He has previously released projects such as Son of a King and Ke Dezemba.

Released through YVK Records in partnership with Universal Music, The Italian Job runs for approximately 67 minutes. With this many artists involved, there is quite a lot for Amapiano fans to explore.
