Cape Town lyricist YoungstaCPT drops his 36th mixtape “Worldwide Wynberg” in full collaboration with Harlem producer CartuneBeatz – and the cross-continental pairing delivers exactly what the title promises.

For over 15 years, Riyadh Roberts has made Wynberg the central character in his storytelling. But this project does not just celebrate the neighbourhood – it presents it on a global stage. CartuneBeatz brings an East Coast hip-hop framework built through sessions with Lloyd Banks, Freddie Gibbs, and Westside Gunn. So the production gives YoungstaCPT’s Cape Flats narratives a sonic setting that makes them travel without losing their local identity.

The 12-track project also carries one of the most thoughtfully assembled collaborator lists in his catalogue. “Brick Poem” with acclaimed actor and poet Omari Hardwick is the headline feature – but “Best Before” with legendary Cape Town DJ Ready D anchors the project in local hip-hop history. “Wildberg” with Crosby Bolani keeps the Wynberg community front and centre. Then “Can’t Save Everybody” with his sister Shaakie Roberts makes the whole project personal in ways no outside collaborator could.

What separates “Worldwide Wynberg” from a standard hometown tribute is the ambition behind the concept. YoungstaCPT is not asking the world to come to Wynberg. He is taking Wynberg to the world – presenting the suburb as a place with its own mythology, language, and culture worthy of standing alongside any hip-hop neighbourhood on the map.
