Delta-born Nigerian artist Celo drops “Zara,” his newest Afrosounds single independently released without a label behind it.

Warri’s music scene has quietly built one of Nigeria’s most distinct regional sounds, and Celo has been part of that wave for years. So “Celo Zara” arrives from an artist with real streaming numbers already behind him, sitting on over 700,000 monthly listeners and close to three million total plays across his catalogue.

His recent run includes “On My Way,” produced by Eazyondebeatz, and “Sabrina,” both of which added to a catalogue built around Afrosounds’ blend of melody and street-rooted delivery. “Zara” continues that trajectory, running just over three minutes and joining a growing list of tracks that have kept Celo’s name circulating on Audiomack’s Africa-focused playlists, including features on “Hometown Heroes: Warri” and “Neo African Pop.”

For an unsigned artist, that kind of consistent playlist placement says something about how much traction his sound has already found outside his home city.
