Afro-fusion artist and multi-instrumentalist Dessie keeps the 2026 output coming with “Seduction,” a solo record out weeks after “Tranquility” and building on the momentum from his “Realer” EP.

What’s interesting about Dessie’s approach is the amount of creative control he has over his releases. On “Seduction” he does the songwriting, production, engineering and bass guitar himself. So the record is his vision from start to finish – no outside production influencing what you hear. That level of creative ownership is rare for him at this point in his career and it shows in how specific the record sounds.

The Afrobeats framework remains warm and melodic throughout. But “Seduction” has a bit more atmospheric oomph than the material on the “Realer” EP – unhurried, confident, and grounded in a groove that earns the title without trying too hard to live up to it. Because a record called “Seduction” either has that energy or exposes the gap between the concept and the execution. Dessie closes the gap neatly.

His 2026 run is also a sign of deliberate pacing. “Realer” introduced the world, “443” with Sterlingouttapocket brought a collaborative feature, “Magaluf” brought summer energy, “Tranquility” slowed it down, and now “Seduction” picks up a different temperature. Each release adds a different color to the same canvas without making the picture look chaotic.

Dessie should be at the top of that list right now if you are putting together a playlist of emerging Afro-fusion voices doing it independently and consistently.
