South African DJ powerhouse DJ Zinhle links up with DJ Cliad on “Terror,” the closing track from her self-titled ZINHLE EP.
The title signals exactly where this record lives. But “Terror” does not arrive as pure aggression. Instead, DJ Zinhle and DJ Cliad build a driving Afro Tech record that earns its name through intensity rather than noise. Because the best club records create that specific tension where you cannot stay still – and “Terror” does that cleanly from the first bar.
DJ Cliad’s production contribution gives the track its distinctive edge. His work on the “My Name Is” remix earlier on the project already showed he understands how to push DJ Zinhle’s sound into harder electronic territory without losing her identity in the process. So “Terror” benefits from that same instinct. The two DJs clearly have a shared creative language by now.
Placing this record as the EP’s final track is also a deliberate structural choice. The ZINHLE project moves through warmth and intimacy on tracks like “Uthando” and “Bestie” before pulling back toward more personal moments. Then “Terror” closes everything with full energy – a reminder that behind the softer creative moments, there is still a DJ who built her name in South African clubs.
The Afro Tech and electronic house combination running through the production gives “Terror” a sound that works in both peak-hour DJ sets and home listening. Though the track leans heavily dancefloor, the mix stays controlled enough to reward close listening too.
