Dzo 729 reunites with Mitjo SA, Mr Paper, Prozthefuture, and Future Saxo on “Mfazi We Phepha” – another compelling record off the “Mapule” EP.

The title translates roughly to a woman of substance in Zulu and the song builds its entire narrative around that theme. So from the lyrics to the overall mood everything on this record feels directed and purposeful rather than casually assembled.

The production leans into a soulful and textured Amapiano sound with Future Saxo’s saxophone work adding that signature warmth that has run consistently through several records on the project. Meanwhile the rhythm section underneath moves with a confidence that gives every artist a strong foundation to perform from.

Dzo 729 leads the record with clarity and intention. Mitjo SA follows naturally and maintains the emotional direction established from the start. Mr Paper brings a different perspective to the narrative while Prozthefuture closes things out with an energy that gives the song its final push.

Although this lineup has appeared together before on the EP their chemistry sounds anything but repetitive here. Each record finds them approaching the material differently and “Mfazi We Phepha” is no exception.
