Nigerian rap star Erigga closes out the collaborative run with “North South,” the title track from his joint EP with EESKAY and Cleanblack Music.
A title track carries different weight than any other song on a project, and this one earns that placement. “North South” pulls together everything the EP has been building across “Reckoning,” “Cana Fairy,” “Locked In,” and “Two Strips” – and gives it a name that speaks directly to the geographic and cultural bridge Erigga, EESKAY, and Cleanblack Music are trying to represent through their sound.
That bridge is not just symbolic either. The collaboration reportedly grew out of a shared mission to push both indigenous and contemporary African rap forward at the same time, and “North South” as a phrase captures that duality perfectly. Erigga’s grounded, story-driven bars meet EESKAY and Cleanblack Music’s contemporary edge, and neither side dominates the mix.
As the closing statement on a six-track project with zero outside features, “North South” also reinforces something important about the EP as a whole. This was never about chasing a single hit record. It was about three artists proving they could build something cohesive from start to finish, and the title track ties that intention together neatly.
