Benin City street-pop act Famous Pluto calls in rapper Corizo for “Ganja,” the only featured collaboration on his birthday project “On My Birthday.”
That detail matters. A three-track birthday release and you save your one feature spot for a record about smoking igbo – then write the hook around not wanting your mother to find out. That is not a lazy creative choice. It is the kind of specificity that separates a real song from background noise.
“Ganja” works because Famous Pluto does not dress the subject up. The hook is direct: “This thing called ganja, make mama no vex say I don dey smoke igbo.” But the verses go deeper. There is a whole story in there about a rider who stole his loud and got dealt with accordingly – and that level of detail makes the record feel lived-in rather than performed. Corizo comes in and extends the conversation with his own angle, keeping the song grounded in personal experience rather than turning it into a flex.
Famous Pluto has been building quickly since “Na Scra” hit No. 3 on Apple Music Nigeria in 2025. He comes from the Shallipopi and ZerryDL corner of the Benin street-pop movement, so the energy here is familiar but the writing is distinctly his own. “On My Birthday” is a small project with a clear personality, and “Ganja” is the track that gives it its edge.
Stream “Ganja” and let us know in the comments – does Corizo’s verse hit harder than you expected?
