Nigerian musical artist FOLA turns longing into a sequel on “miss u ii (nriri),” the fifth track on his 14-song album “9.”
The original “Miss You” landed in 2023, so this follow-up comes three years later. FOLA, born Afolarin Odunlami, picks the same ache back up and writes it from a closer angle. He sings about missing someone who still holds a place in his heart, and the song stays warm instead of heavy. Yoruba and English slide through the lines, which keeps the mood playful as well as tender.
Sbthaproducer handled the beat, and he keeps it clean. A smooth Afrobeats base sits under FOLA’s melodic voice, and the recurring “nriri” chant ties the hook together. At about two and a half minutes, the song says what it needs and leaves. Nothing stretches past the feeling.
The record also sits in a busy stretch for him. His 2025 debut “Catharsis” gave him a strong base, and “Alone” helped build it. This year he appeared on BNXN’s “Shamaya” and prepared “9,” a title pronounced “Striker” and inspired by football’s forward who delivers when it matters. Ayra Starr joins him on “treat u right” at track seven, and “it’s over” with Bella Shmurda and Zlatan closes the project.
Sequels can feel risky, but this one trusts the original’s mood and adds fresh writing.
