Nigerian Afro-fusion gospel minister Gaise Baba returns with “Yield,” a solo cut from his 13-track album “God Is Cooking” under 464 Projects.
There’s more to the song than just the original studio recording. First released in 2024, “Yield” was given a whole new feel with the live version from his December 2025 show, which became even more personal after his father’s death in February 2026. Gaise Baba himself admitted he had no idea how soon after the song’s release he would need those same words to get him thru his own grief. Such testimony makes of a record a testimony of lived experience, not an instrument of ministry.
It’s a place in the writing where honest human struggle meets unshakable faith. He acknowledges how difficult it is to release, how he cannot comprehend, how clarity eludes him but still he declares God faithful. That theological honesty is what makes “Yield” different from gospel recordings that bypass the pain and go straight to victory. “oju lo pe si, a ma tun ra ri” – this is only a long parting, we will see each other again – is a Yoruba phrase that gives the grief a hope which does not feel artificial.

The identity of “Yield” is one of perfection, an unhurried, Spirit-led record that trusts the message to do what no production trick could.
