Gusba Banana pulls in PLG Chanty, Primo ZA and J-Smash for “Muvanya,” another crowded but functional amapiano posse cut.
Four names again, seems to be the going rate for this genre lately. Gusba Banana’s the anchor here, though with this many contributors it’s genuinely hard to say who’s steering what. Doesn’t really matter in the end, the track’s judged on how it sits, not who did which part.
Log drum, obviously, but Primo ZA’s touch feels present in how the low end gets treated, a bit more sub-heavy than some of the lighter cuts floating around right now. Percussion layers stack up gradually rather than all hitting at once. Takes a minute to build, which some listeners will appreciate more than others.
PLG Chanty handles most of the vocal chanting up front, repetitive phrases that lock into the rhythm fast. J-Smash comes in somewhere in the back half, different tone, rougher around the edges. Nobody’s really singing here so much as riding the beat with their voice.
Honestly this one blends into a lot of what’s out right now. Not a knock exactly, amapiano posse cuts have kind of settled into a formula at this point. “Muvanya” does that formula competently, no more, no less.
