South African Afro House pioneer and Drumboss Musik founder Heavy-K has linked up with rising vocalist Zimvo on a soulful new single titled “Oluthando,” released on July 3, 2026, and distributed through Virgin Music Group SA.
Within days of its release, “Oluthando” began charting across 25 African countries – a milestone Heavy-K celebrated on Instagram, writing directly to the continent: “Thank you, Africa.” That kind of continental reach this early tells you the record struck something real rather than just a local moment.
“Oluthando” translates to “love” in both isiXhosa and isiZulu, and the title fits the mood of the six-minute record perfectly. Heavy-K builds the track around his signature 3-Step percussion and rolling Afro House production, while Zimvo brings an expressive vocal warmth that gives the song its emotional centre. The two balance each other well – the production never overwhelms the vocal, and the vocal never loses itself in the beat.
Heavy-K has been one of the leading figures behind the growth of South Africa’s 3-Step genre for years, and his 2026 run has already included a high-profile collaboration with American rapper Busta Rhymes. So “Oluthando” arrives in the middle of one of his most internationally active periods yet.
For Zimvo, however, this is the record that changes things. Charting in 25 countries on a Heavy-K production is the kind of platform that opens doors that were previously closed.
