Lagos-based Nigerian singer and songwriter Islambo has dropped a bold new single titled “erc20,” produced by Venuxx and released on July 10, 2026, following his seven-track HOLD SOMETHING EP earlier in the year.

The title is the kind of thing only Islambo would put on a song. ERC20 is a technical standard used for smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain — a term firmly rooted in crypto culture. Using it as a song title is a deliberate flex, the kind that signals financial ambition and digital-age awareness without needing to spell it out. It fits perfectly within his street lingo-heavy approach that Zikoko recently highlighted when naming him one of Nigeria’s most exciting street voices of 2026.

Islambo first made noise in 2015 with the viral hit “Laiyelaiye,” and he has been slowly but steadily building since then. His HOLD SOMETHING EP featured collaborations with Falz, Jeriq, and CDQ, which showed an artist comfortable working with established Nigerian names. “erc20” arrives as a solo statement outside the project, produced by Venuxx, who gives the record the atmospheric street-pop energy that Islambo thrives on.

What makes his run interesting right now is consistency. Earlier songs like “Wire Check / AfroBTC” and “Oh My Days” already showed a fascination with money culture and street commentary. “erc20” continues that thread – sharper, more confident, and clearly the work of an artist who knows exactly what lane he is running in.
